We tend to indulge in warm drinks during winter and are often blissfully unaware that coffee, tea and red wine in particular tend to stain our teeth. Brite Smile provides a few simple tips to help you prevent stained teeth.
- Brush your teeth immediately after you eat or drink tea, coffee or red wine to help prevent stains from setting in.
- Always brush your teeth for a full two minutes to ensure they’re clean.
- Rinsing your mouth and drinking water immediately after tea or coffee can also wash away particles that cause teeth stains.
- When drinking red wine, make sure to drink sparkling water in-between. The carbonation will lightly scrub the wine away before it has a chance to stain your teeth.
- Red wine tends to stick easily onto plaque on your teeth, so brush your teeth before drinking red wine.
- Eat high-fibre foods while drinking red wine because the fibre acts as a brush and scrubs away the stain.
- Have a piece of cheese or a glass of milk to help neutralize the acid in the drink. The calcium will also help to strengthen your teeth.
