Kotex® believes in motivating and empowering women to keep working hard and maintain the goal of women becoming their best self – even during that time of the month
A proud mom, wife and founder of the Red Wings Project, Olwethu Leshabane recently joined the Kotex team as they embark on their new campaign #PeriodOrNotSheCan.
Traditional and new roles
Olwethu has truly shown how women not only fulfil traditional roles as mothers, wives and caregivers but are also making great progress in business, politics, academic and economic careers. “I let what I do shine, first by being intentional about who I am, and by remaining as authentic as possible,” Olwethu says.
And what better way to be intentional while also giving back than to empower women. Her own NGO, Red Wings Project, has created various projects and activities to help women and empower women.
The Red Wings Project
The activities of the Red Wings Project includes the distribution of sanitary pads to underprivileged women and girls, while also advocating for female sanitation education for young girls. She even has projects to build and refurbish toilets in underprivileged communities.
Olwethu says she is driven by women who are inspired by what she does, women who are facing difficult times alone and who she says she can relate with.
#SheCan
The Kotex #PeriodOrNotSheCan campaign embraces the power of women of all ages and encourages women to believe they can do anything, achieve anything and let nothing stand in their way. Not even that time of the month.
“I want to be the voice that reminds young girls and women that She Can. I believe that we will get to a point where women’s values are appreciated and are the leading factor in our spaces.” – Olwethu Leshabane
