Could there be anything worse than having a nice afternoon drive, only to climb out of your vehicle and discover that a nail has pierced its way through your tyre?
With the spike in the prices of tyres, getting a completely new one might cost you a fortune. While the situation can be a bit of an inconvenience, if carefully inspected, you may find that there is no need to replace it at all.
Most punctures are not always as severe as we would like to think, some may be the case of what is known as a “slow puncture,” meaning that it could take a while before your tyre deflates entirely.
If this is the case, the safest thing to do is to get your car to a nearby garage, purchase a puncture repairing kit and start your repairing process by following these easy steps as suggested by tyre expert, Dunlop Tyres.
Ensure your vehicle is secured, thereafter, use a jack on the vehicle and remove the damaged tyre.
Below is a picture containing the list of things you will need.
- Locate the puncture.
- Remove the foreign object by using the pliers available.
- Clear out the puncture hole by inserting the reamer tool smeared with lubricant supplied into the puncture hole.
- Tread the repair cord through the eye of the insertion tool, also with lubricant on the insertion tool.
- Then push the insertion tool with the repair cord through the punctured hole until a small bit remains protruding from the tyre.
- In one swift motion, pull out the insertion tool.
- Inflate your tyre to a specified pressure and you’re all done.
