Our digital editor was recently invited to join a group of other media on a fun trip to Mpumalanga. She tells us about her experience here.
Location
Contrary to popular belief, Mpumalanga is not a dry province with nothing exciting to do. As I came to discover – there was a lot to see, taste and experience.
Only a short drive from Johannesburg, it’s easily accessible and not a difficult trip to manoeuvre at all. You can also fly there if you prefer.
Activities
There was so much to do; I was seriously exhausted upon my return. You can choose from quad biking (trust me – this is a must for everyone!), zip lining, bungee jumping and beer tasting among many other activities that will leave your heart beating faster.
Natural beauty
Mpumalanga is also well known for its scenic beauty. Perhaps the most popular tourist attraction, God’s Window will make you feel like you’re floating amongst the clouds. Truly a surreal experience. You can also visit the Bourke’s Luck Potholes which is basically sporadic waterfalls on a vast amount of land. There are also a number of spots where you can stop and look over the majestic greenery. It really is a marvellous spectacle to behold.
Accommodation
There are a number of places where you can stay while visiting the province. From B&B’s to 5 star hotels – accommodation is plenty and suitable for each wallet.
All in all, this is the perfect destination for your future group holiday or #baecation needs. You will never be bored and what a wonder it is to walk about freely taking in this picturesque country of ours.
