Mpho Mathope, founder of the Nubian Music Festival 2018, chats to us about this event that will take place at the Eagle Waters Wildlife Resort in Hartbeespoort. By Fundiswa Nkwanyana
Hosting this festival is close to my heart. I’ve always loved spending time with my family and exposing them to new places. But, I noticed that there were a few family-friendly festivals that I could attend with them. So, I started my own festival in order to accommodate people who wanted to spend a fun-filled weekend away with their families in a safe and scenic environment.
I’m excited about our star-studded lineup. It includes Lira, Oliver Mtukudzi, Mi Casa, Mafikizolo, Donald, Selaelo Selota and Afrotraction. Getting diverse artists to perform was important because I wanted to cater to everyone’s musical preference.
The festival will be exciting as there is so much to see and experience. The main festival will take place on 16 December, but there will be plenty of fun activities and entertainment from 14 December. Just be sure to arrive early so that you can explore Hartbeespoort. You can visit the Ann Van Dyk Cheetah Centre, Hartbeespoort Elephant Sanctuary, Harties Cableway and go on a boat cruise at the dam. Also, there will be a children’s play area, and a movie and comedy night. And, all these activities come with affordable packages. It’s going to be fun!
I encourage people to come in their numbers. With affordable tickets and various accommodation options at the Eagle Waters Wildlife Resort as well as the surrounding areas, you have nothing to lose! Expect to watch your favourite artists performing on a stage overlooking Hartbeespoort Dam and the Magaliesberg mountain range. For more information, visit nubianmusicfestival.co.za
The festival starts from 14 to 16 December 2018.
