On December 4th 2021, Annette Skaap opened the doors to the first 4-star hotel in Khayelitsha. This was a defining moment for her and the township at large.
An establishment of this magnitude is a first of its kind and has had tremendous success within the space of a year. In March of this year, Annette won the ‘Entrepreneur Of The Year’ award at the Black Excellence Awards – a nod to the work she has done. The hospitality and tourism industry was hit the most during COVID-19, a hotel opening right after a pandemic brought hope to the township’s economy.

The hotel has had the pleasure of hosting some of the countries best celebrities, the iconic Connie Chiume, Sello Maake KaNcube, Lunathi Mampofu, Nay Maps, Abdul Khoza, Lamiez Holworthy and the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Lindiwe Sisulu.
On the hotels website it states that it is “a 4-star luxury hotel designed to offer opulence, complete comfort and relaxation. Fitted with 13 suites, elegantly decorated interiors with modern features, a sophisticated look and feel, the finest linen, and 4-star amenities, everything has been selected to ensure guests’ comfort.”
Speaking to the hotel manager, Luthando Kula on the hotels success he said ” The reception has been amazing, not only from the people of Khayelitsha but people from all over the country. We have been blessed to host amazing celebrities throughout the year.” One of their highlights was being able to give back to their community by creating employment for the citizens of Khayelitsha. He teased us and said among the local artists that will be performing at the first anniversary, Africa’s 1st female dj (Dj Zinhle) might be playing but they are still waiting for confirmation.
On Sunday, December 4th, they will be celebrating their first year anniversary at a cost of R295 per patron. The amount will include one meal, a drink and a goodie bag. This will be a great opportunity to see and experience the luxury of Khayelitsha.
