The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) has launched their Digital Nomad Visa programme for those seeking to live, study, travel or work in Namibia for six months. This programme was launched to provide travelers the opportunity to experience life in Namibia while working independently and remotely. This is perfect for freelances looking for a change of scenery.
Chief Executive of the NIPDB, Nangula Uaandja said: “We have identified that there is an opportunity to attract and gain economic benefit from people who want to work, live and travel in Namibia, without absorbing Namibian jobs”.
Namibia’s new Digital Nomad Visa is a great option for South Africans considering the location and price compared to alternative options. Applicants need the necessary and valid travel documents, health and travel insurance, proof of income, police clearance certificate and a completed application form that could be found on the NIPDB’s website along with application checklists. The cost of the visa is $62 which is about R1000 that would need to be paid on arrival. Once the application process has completed, travelers are then able to plan their accommodation, flights, car rentals and plan other activities to enjoy their six month stay.
According to Business Insider, the cost of going out to eat is more expensive in Namibia but the cost of living is cheaper compared to Johannesburg and Cape Town. Self-sufficient travelers now have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscapes, the safety as well as the fast and reliable internet connectivity that Namibia has to offers.
