Ever experienced an extreme fear of an object, animals or spaces that leads to an anxious feeling? You may be suffering from a phobia.
Phobia refers to an “exaggerated and unrealistic sense of fear or danger about an object or a situation” shares the International Psychology Clinic.
There are a many phobias caused by the most common things that people may fear. We take a look at three phobias from a list shared by the International Psychology Clinic.
Claustrophobia – attack from this phobia usually happens in small confined spaces such as small rooms or elevators explains the clinic. The clinic further adds that those who suffer from this type of phobia often find it difficult to breath when in such enclosed spaces something that may easily trigger anxiety. In severe cases those suffering from claustrophobia may can be scared getting into cars, the hub adds.
Thanatophobia – this fear is a result of the fear of death. It is a common thing to fear death but, it is taking it to extremes such as isolating yourself from people and activities in fear that you might die is a bit extreme shares the hub. Some of us are aware that one day we will be gone from earth but that is as far as we let death occupy our minds.
Nosophobia – nosophobia refers to the fear of diseases. Those who suffer from this phobia often associate any ill feeling they have with having some kind of a disease. Even if they may be cleared by a medical practitioner those suffering from nosophobia are likely to doubt them assuming they might have made mistake, adds the hub.
