Waking up your kids for school can sometimes be dreadful, you get the angry stares, fuss, yelling, just for them to get those extra minutes in bed.
Some mothers ask themselves, is there a method to waking up your kids?
After doing research on how parents can have a productive morning and waking up their children without any child screaming or getting that angry eye, here is what we came up with:
Some studies show that routine can be important for the child, good quality sleep is the major factor that allows kids to wake up without any fuss.
However, according to Medicinenet, “children finding it difficult to wake up may or may not have behavioral issues, a lack of routine, or other issues. These can be managed by lifestyle modifications.”
Understanding your child
There are children that are early birds and some night owls, the family must wake up well before the child wakes up to get ready for school so they can feel the live energy in the household.
Routine time to sleep
Children must get at least 8- 10 hours of sleep from the ages of 13 to 18 and 9 -12 hours for the ages of 6 to 12. This helps them to get a good quality sleep and to be well rested.
Play music that they love
It helps to create the hype and a mood booster in the morning.
Natural light
The human body’s IQ responds to natural light, opening up curtains or blinds for the natural light to come in.
Rewarding good behavior
Helps to encourage kids to strive to do better, for example, giving them stickers everyday and at the end of weekdays they get a gift according to how many stickers they have accumulated.
Children are different, finding different methods to wake them up might take time but as a parent it’s up to you to find a rhythm that works. For example, playing with your kids while they’re in bed to get them to laugh.
