With summer being just months away there is no better time to start exploring holiday options than now – and where better to explore than in our own country, South Africa.

Home to some of the most majestic landscapes and breathtaking views, our country prides itself on having some of the world’s most beautiful attractions that are guaranteed to sweep you off your feet.

While many may be eager to explore some of the bigger tourist attractions cities, it is often within the smaller ones that one gets to experience South Africa in its truest sense – and where better to do that than exploring the City of Bloemfontein in the Free State Province.

Known as the “City of Roses,” this city oozes with natural beauty with one of its well-known attractions being the annual roses festival.

If you wish to explore more of the city this summer, then these are some of the other popular places you can visit on your trip to the city.

Anglo Boer War Museum

The travel trip advisor Cheap Trips reveals that this museum is the only one in the world that is dedicated solely to the Anglo-Boer Wars.

“The wars took place between 1899 and 1902 and a visit to this beautifully presented and well-maintained museum is a must when trying to understand the history of South Africa, and how the shared tragedy of these wars helped shape the country as it is today in terms of the social, economic and political impact,” explains the above-mentioned travel agency.

Naval Hill

What better way to explore the city than looking at it from the bird’s eye view. This famous landmark provides locals and tourists alike with the opportunity to overlook the landscape of the city while accompanied by no one other than a statue of Nelson Mandela. Access to the location is free and there is more than enough place to picnic.
