Channel your anger and try rage cleaning

Ever been so mad you could scrub the kitchen floor until it shines? Turns out, that might not be such a bad idea. Rage cleaning—yes, it’s a thing—is the oddly satisfying way to channel frustration into something productive.

Instead of stewing in anger, you grab a mop, blast your favourite playlist, and let all that pent-up energy fuel a deep clean. By the time you’re done, not only will your space look spotless, but you’ll probably feel lighter too. Who knew a little scrubbing could double as therapy?

Rage cleaning is a method that releases tension and improves efficiency, according to experts at the Good Housekeeping Institute. It is stated to involve channelling anger into motivation and transforming dirty or disorganized areas into beautiful ones.

According to the above source, the process relieves stress and provides a sense of satisfaction, resulting in a cleaner home. The mentioned source further recommends rage cleaning in areas that are often neglected but yield significant results. “Organise a messy closet. If you find yourself feeling bothered every time you open your closet, it might be time to start rage cleaning. Channel that anger into energy and get organised. Be open to getting rid of clothes you no longer need, too.”

Ideas to blow your steam off with as suggested by Real Simple include scrubbing the grout, it can be cleaned with hot water and a stiff-bristled brush, but it requires effort.  The publication mentions that a natural cleaning paste made of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide can be used.

“Want to add a little aromatherapy to your angry cleaning session? Follow this brilliant vacuuming hack: Dip a cotton ball in your favourite essential oil, like lemon or lavender, and put it inside the vacuum’s canister. A soothing scent will be released as you push the machine around.”
