As South Africans, many of us have at some point in our lives lived a life of eating 2-minute noodles.

Remember the time you were in a rush to get to your extra mural activities or the time you were so busy preparing for an important exam, that you were unable to prepare a proper meal? Surely 2-minute noodles came to your rescue.

While the convenience of popping a packet of the Italian-inspired meal into the pot or microwave has saved us on several occasions, you would be surprised to find out how creative you can get with a packet of noodles, thus turning a 2-minute snack into a star-studded meal.

Below is a list of creative ways on how you can prepare your noodles:

Omelette

Omelettes have become a popular breakfast preference in many South African households. Couple that with a pack of 2-minute noodles and you have got a winner.

You can use an array of different ingredients including cheese, and an assortment of peppers as well as olives or tomatoes with the special ingredient – noodles. This will have you running for more.

Chicken and veggie noodle stir fry

Using ingredients such as noodles, stir fry mix, chicken mince, soy sauce and vegetable oil will have anyone looking like a chef.

This dish is incredibly easy to make. Simply boil a pack of noodles for two minutes, heat a pan with oil over medium heat, add minced meat and cook until golden. Next, add the sauce and let it cool. Then, add the veggies and the boiled noodles, toss everything together and you’ll have yourself a winner! This recipe has been tried and tested by the experts at Taste.com, so you can be confident in your cooking abilities.

Noodle salad

Popular food blog Austrailia’s Best Recipes explains that to make the noodle salad, you need to cook the noodles according to the instructions on the packet, then mix in sesame oil and set aside.

Cook a beaten egg in a small pan and remove it once done. In a separate pan, fry onion, bacon, garlic and chilli until the onion is soft. Mix the onion mixture and egg into the noodles. For the dressing, mix all ingredients and pour over the noodles. Top with fresh coriander.
