It is back to school season and the kids are going to have a hard time mastering the routine of waking up and preparing for school. While some are starting preschool and primary, their big sisters and brothers who are now going to high school may have anxiety and mixed emotions about the first day, however, they can still enjoy it.

Having a happy first day of school can help with calming your nerves and getting into the groove for the year ahead.  So, it is advisable that you make your kids’ first day enjoyable and fun.

According to Hands-On Teaching Ideas – an online publication with teachers who are also moms who enjoy helping children explore their world through engaging and exciting activities – here are some fun ways to help your children enjoy the first day of school:

  • Get involved in school activities: The above-mentioned source says that if the school has clubs, encourage your kids to join them. If they are into sports, let them sign up for a club, or get them involved in art if they like to express themselves creatively.
  • Meet new people: When your kids are signing up for things like sport, they should make an effort to talk to new people and make new friends, added Hands-On Teaching Ideas.
  • Get a head start on your studies: The source also mentions that encourage your kids to start working on their assignments and studying for tests so that they do not fall behind.
  • Bring your favorite lunch: Hands-On Teaching Ideas adds that having a special lunch can help your kid have a very enjoyable day.
  • Take lots of pictures: According to Hands-On Teaching Ideas suggest that if your kid captures every moment to make a documentary can help them have a fun first day of school.
