One of the most rewarding ways to simultaneously reward and push yourself is to attend to your inner self in ways that only you can. While noting down our goals and aspirations is a practice that many of us do, do we ever take time to pause and write a letter to ourselves now and again?
Pausing and finding the time to write a letter to your future self can bring a sense of healing along with many other remarkable benefits. This action can provide you with valuable life tools such as realigning you with your values, while also pushing you towards self-awareness.
A letter to yourself aids you in continuously learning to be encouraging, gentle, and supportive towards yourself. The true essence of finally reading a letter that you wrote can be truly rewarding and fulfilling. Prioritizing yourself will always remain pivotal throughout your existence and this is one way that you can do that.
Motivation, mindset, and self-care digital content creator, Mise has shared a few insights and lessons she has acquired on her journey of writing to herself since she started the rewarding task a few years ago.
She began sharing, ” A couple of years ago I started writing letters to myself. It was a really good way to really put in perspective the present, and what I imagined for my future. I would write about where I was, what I was doing… challenges I was facing, and what I hoped for the future. I’d schedule a day to receive it and when I did receive it, reading these letters always gave me a sense of reassurance, I was usually in a better headspace or had overcome the obstacles I was worried about.”
Mise further stated, “Sometimes they just give me a good laugh as well. And shocked me to see how much different I was. It taught me to appreciate every stage of life I was in and to love myself through it all, especially on the hard days.”
Mise concluded by encouraging others. “Take this as your sign to write a love letter to yourself. Reassure yourself, remind yourself of who you are and where you’re going.
I believe in you, you should too.”
