As we approach the month of love, many people will soon be flocking to social media platforms like TikTok and Pinterest to find inspiration on how to make the day one to remember.
The day is a universally celebrated one which originated from the famous Saint Valentine. According to the History publication Saint Valentine was imprisoned Valentine and therefore sent the first “valentine” greeting himself “after he fell in love with a young girl—possibly his jailor’s daughter—who visited him during his confinement.”
Rumour has it that before his death he penned his final note to her which he later referenced as “Your Valentine” – which is globally used today.
To date, couples, both young and old continue to honour this day on the 14th of February every year, and men often use this as a day to treat their significant other.
While this is often the one time of the year when many females are looking to be swept off their feet with romantic sees or even life-changing proposals the reality is that men often desire the same.
For many of them, this is seen as a symbol of appreciation, making them feel important, valued, and loved, and usually shows signs that their partner understands their interests and needs.
With society now having transitioned to gender roles being equal, there are a few useful things one can do to make the day extra special for your boyfriend, fiance, or husband.
These are some tips:
- Book tickets to a sports match
- Surprise him with a couple’s getaway
- If grooming is what he is into, get him an electric shaver, his favourite cologne, or accessories like a wristwatch
- Write him a love note
- Surprise him with a date night
