As we approach the end of the year, it can be quite challenging being the person you once were when you started the brand-new year.
New Focus HR – a human resource consulting and training company – writes that the festive season is notorious for demotivating employees which decreases productivity.
With all of the important due deadlines met and monthly targets already achieved, all that most people would want to do is get to the holidays to take a break and indulge in relaxation.
While the end of the year can be a debilitating time, it is important not to lose focus and end the year on a strong note.
Here are a few ways to do so:
Know your purpose
Indeed – a Job searching platform – highlights that it is important to make create a mental mission statement.
When you entered this year, you set your mind on achieving a certain number of goals for a specific reason. It is therefore important to relook at that mission statement and remind yourself of why you are doing what you are doing.
“Knowing your purpose makes your goals much more achievable and motivates you to give your best effort to achieve smaller objectives within your main goals,” writes Indeed.
Remind yourself of your successes
There is no greater motivation than the reminder that you once overcame difficult times.
This is why it is important to look back at your previous accomplishments and congratulate yourself.
Indeed emphasizes: “Positive reinforcement of the goals you have achieved can help you reflect on what you have done in the past and create a repeatable process to achieve other goals.”
Focus on what is important
While there may be a million things that you still need to do between now and December, it is important to prioritize the important tasks first.
It is important to create a list of things you need to do and then narrow it down to which ones will have more impact in the shortest amount of time.
