A few months ago, the country saw a steep hike in the price of eggs that was reportedly caused by the avian flu.
According to reports by different media sources, the flu spread fast, leading to the death of many chickens.
This meant that eggs and chicken were a scarce commodity, leading to those who could access them retailing them higher than the normal price. The flu has since died, but some food outlets are still keeping the high prices according to internet users.
One user posed a question on his X (formerly known as Twitter) on whether others knew why egg prices were still high post bird flu.

Internet users responded with answers ranging from not believing there was a bird flu in the first place to giving advice on where to get eggs from.
There was no flu. It was a collusion ploy by retailers to raise prices and keep them there.

Best thing to do now is not to buy at these supermarkets rather buy direct from farmers as they are cheaper.
