Have you actually thought about what guys think about Valentine’s Day? … Let us find out.
Most of the time, I have seen people mistaking the day to be dedicated only to females forgetting that it is a day where love is celebrated. This means both parties in the relationship need to take part.
Men also would love to be shown love and appreciated. While we are still talking about it, Valentine’s is a few days from now, most guys are cracking their skulls to try and think of the perfect gifts they can get for their girlfriends.
Talking to some of my male friends who are extremely frustrated, I asked them how they feel about Valentine’s.
One of them quickly replied as if he had been waiting for someone to ask him this, “Hayi hayi [No no!] Valentine’s is the most stressful day,” He added that he wished the day could just disappear claiming that as females we are just making life hard for them.
Laughing at this response, my other guy friend shared that it does not make sense for us to be stressing guys about Valentine’s Day which is not even celebrated in the bible. “Yho hayi niyasisokolisa [you guys are making things hard],” he added.
While these responses are coming from a place of frustration, I understand their views because it does not make sense that guys are the only people who are expected to be givers on a day that is titled ‘Valentine’s” and not girlfriends’ day.
Another one did not even have much to say he just wanted the day to pass.
