The women came together to create a business that would provide them with employment and empower other women in the community.
Khayelitsha Cookies bakes a variety of handmade, preservative-free cookies that are sold to retailers, corporates, and individuals throughout Cape Town.
The enterprise employs over 50 women from the community, providing them with regular income, training, and support. The women are trained in baking and business skills, which enables them to take on leadership roles within the enterprise and create a sustainable livelihood for themselves and their families.
In addition to providing employment, Khayelitsha Cookies is committed to giving back to the community. A portion of the profits from the sale of their cookies is invested in social development projects in Khayelitsha, including education and healthcare initiatives.
Khayelitsha Cookies’ handmade cookies are not only delicious but also help to create employment and support social development initiatives in the township.
