Lets be honest, we have all – in some way or another – had bad encounters with our hair. You may have had large strands of hair lying all over the place, struggled with hair breakage, or even experienced overwhelming amounts of itching on your scalp because of dandruff.
While many of us often run to the most expensive products in hopes that it will solve our problems, the solution may be closer than you think.
There are many kitchen essentials that are dermatologically proven to meet the needs of your hair problem – an added benefit is that you will save yourself lots of money.
Here are five easily accessible kitchen ingredients that are good for your scalp and hair.
Onion Juice
Despite the bad smell that it emits, onion juice is extremely beneficial for your scalp. Health Shots – a publication specialising in human healthcare – reveals that a study published in the Journal of Dermatology found that 74% of its participants experienced hair regrowth just after four weeks of applying onion juice to their scalp.
Onions contain dietary sulfur which is known to boost collagen production and produce healthy skin and hair growth. If used, do not apply for more than 30 minutes.
Apple Cider Vinegar
If you experience a sweaty sculpt or lots of dandruff then this is the solution for you.
“According to dermatologists, dandruff and sweat are the biggest causes of hair loss. But the acidic nature of apple cider vinegar and its antifungal properties help to keep your scalp dry. This leads to stronger hair follicles and less hair breakage,” says the Health Shots.
Eggs
While many people often opt for keritan to improve the strength and texture of their hair, eggs offer the exact same properties to give your hair the protein it needs as well as shine.
“Protein makes the hair shaft smooth. It forms a coating to protect the hair cuticle. This coating is responsible to maintain the texture of the hair and give them shine too. So, you can definitely apply egg whites to strengthen your hair,” says dermatologist Roshini from Apollo Telehealth.
