A disturbing video of a young boy named Luvo Ngqaza physically assaulting his grandmother caused an uproar on the internet with many calling for his immediate arrest.
The video of an altercation which took place in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, sees the grandmother who was busy preparing umphokoqo (a meal also known as African salad) telling her grandson that he has been sent to come to kill her.
While trying to move him away from the stove to reach her pot, Luvo slapped her twice causing the granny to fall on the floor. The video was enough to make South Africans angry calling for those who had details of the young boy in the video to come forward.
It has since emerged that the video was captured by the perpetrator’s young cousin, Inam who was instructed by Luvo to do so.
While visited by the EFF Cape Metro members, Inam told them that Luvo asked him to take the video in order to show his sister that his granny was refusing to give him food.
Photo’s of a man beaten up to a pulp later circulated with many saying the person in the pictures was Luvo and that he had been caught by his community.
The EFF refuted those claims calling them fake news.
