A video of a KwaZulu-Natal man in search of his mother who dropped him outside his father’s place when he was just two days old and never returned, made its way to social media platforms, getting many internet users eager to help him locate his mother.
The man from KZN’s Maphumulo came across Nazareth Baptist Church leader inkosi Mduduzi Shembe at a filling station and went to pour out his pain to him.
The man believes that he was named Mduduzi by his mother, as he was addressed in a 1991/92 letter from his mom to his dad.
His name was later changed by his father to Slwanhe.
On his quest to find his mother, the man shared that he went to Ukhozi FM in 2013 to try and speak to radio personality Dudu “Lady D” Khoza, hoping that her many followers would have information on his mother’s location. He went back again a few weeks ago but could not get in.
The man’s parents met in Joburg where they both worked, and after their disagreement, her mother decided to put him in a basket and dropped him outside. He was lucky to be found first by his father who took him to his family in KZN when he was just five months old.
Speaking to the man of god, he detailed that growing up in Maphumulo he didn’t have an easy childhood, adding that he didn’t even attend school. His father wasn’t aware of this until 1997 as he was still working in Joburg, only coming back home during holidays.
He also shared that his mother was seen inside a taxi in 2015 and that he recently tried contacting the person who saw her.
Telling the church leader why he wanted to meet his mother so bad he said:
“I am not going to cry and ask her why, all I am going to say is, here are your grandkids, I have four amazing young boys.”
Inkosi Shembe proceeded to ask the man if he knew where his mother was from and he responded by saying that he didn’t, he also mentioned that his father had passed on making it a bit difficult to get more information on his mother.
Slwanhe at some point went to live in the streets before deciding to better his life as he now is an Uber driver. ย The man shared his contact details with the church leader who promised to try and help him.
