Menstrual hygiene to keep in mind while travelling

Travelling to different places during your menstrual days can be painful and especially if you aren’t prepared with the essentials.

To ensure that there are no infections or problems while travelling, extreme caution about hygiene and good care must be taken.

Maintaining menstrual hygiene while travelling can be challenging, especially if you’re not prepared. Here are some tips to help you stay clean and comfortable during your period:

Track your period

Before, women were always to surprise to see the crime scene in their pants but thanks to technology apps such as Flo, Period Calendar and Clue can help you track your period and make your traveling much pleasant. This is not just a tip for travelling but for life in general.

Now, if you are crying for no reason and feeling irritated and snappy, you just just check the app and it will tell you why.

Having a period tracker on your phone can help you stock up all your guilty pleasure foods – chips, cookies, and chocolate way in advance. In addition to predicting your period cycle, it even gives you health insights and forums to discuss anonymously with others.

Carry a small bag

Carry a small bag that contains your menstrual supplies, such as wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and disposable bags to dispose-off used products. This will ensure your hygiene is taken care of and you don’t end up spoiling the public toilets.

Also make sure that you plan enough supplies, such as pads, tampons or menstrual cups for your trip. Bring more than you think you will need in case of unexpected delays or heavier flow than anticipated. It is always better to be prepared than to find yourself in a situation where you don’t have access to sanitary pads or menstrual cups.

Pack comfortable clothing

Being comfortable when on a plane or crowded bus or exploring a foreign city is always preferable – but when you’re on your period it’s doubly important. With cramps or bloating the last thing you want to be wearing is a pair of tight jeans, so try to keep comfort in mind when packing and dressing for trips.

Consider wearing breathable fabrics, such as cotton or bamboo, which will allow the air to circulate and prevent odours.

Or you can opt for a nice pair of yoga pants or a loose dress that can be comfortable and stylish.

And lastly enjoy your trip and have loads of fun!
