Krystyna Pyszková, a Czech model and beauty pageant titleholder, was crowned Miss World 2023. She previously won Miss Czech Republic 2022. She is the second Czech woman to win Miss World.
The Good Thing Guy online publication reported that Krystyna recently visited South Africa and joined the Smile Foundation to meet children recovering from burns at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, Johannesburg.
She brought along her six continental queens. The visit aimed at increasing awareness about the causes, prevention, and treatment of burn injuries, as well as the significance of first aid and proper wound care.
During their visit, Miss World and the continental queens met with the children who will receive specialised laser treatment for their injuries. This medical device has had a significant influence on children with serious burns. Its laser treatment not only improves the appearance of being burned but also relieves the pain that comes with burn scars.
The Smile Foundation is a South African non-governmental organisation that offers excellent health care for children with facial conditions. This foundation, in collaboration with the country’s academic hospitals, works to restore children’s smiles through corrective facial surgical procedures and treatments.
Smile Foundation’s Co-founder & Executive Chairman, Marc Lubner told the above publication how excited they are to work together with Miss World in bringing smiles to the children.
He said, “We are thrilled to join forces with Miss World South Africa and the Miss World Organisation to support the Beauty with a Purpose (BWAP) work, a social responsibility project which motivates reigning queens to create or support important charity causes around the world.”
Carol Bouwer, the license holder and President of Miss World South Africa said, “In this first-of-its-kind visit of Miss World and continental queens, the Miss World Organization is determined to support the efforts of our local BWAP projects. This will ensure that as we mark thirty years of democracy, we recognise the many non-governmental institutions that work with us for the betterment of society.”
