Imagine walking in the street, only to come face to face with two lions, this was the reality for one domestic worker from Durban.
A domestic worker working in the Durban suburb of Westville, started her day as usual by carrying out household chores for her employer when she suddenly discovered two lion cubs playing in the yard of the neighbouring property.
According to the entertainment publication Briefly News, the woman had initially mistaken the cubs for two dogs. However, upon closer inspection, she soon realised that they were anything but two puppies.
This is when she discovered that they were actually lion cubs, and alerted her employer who acted swiftly and got hold of local authorities to assist in rescuing the wild animals.
Fidelity officers were later deployed to the area where they managed to get access to the property.
Speaking to the media, Charnel Hattingh of the Fidelity Services Group said that they received the call just after 13h30.
“Upon arrival, police and security personnel were granted access to the property. They safely secured and removed the lion cubs, ensuring the safety of the community and the animals.
While those living in the broader parts of the neighbourhood were shocked, it was later reported that SPCA will determine the best actions going forward.
Two lion cubs were rescued in Durban after a resident reported suspicious activity. Our officer found them playing on the property, and they were safely removed by the SPCA and police. No suspects were found. Well done, Durban Central team!
