The entire world seemed to be moving in an illogical hurry. We frequently juggle multiple tasks at once, skipping meals, missing deadlines, getting lost in traffic, etc. In essence, we are simply rushing through life in a permanently exhausted manner while attempting to regain our breath over the little weekend. However, the weekend also contains its fair share of social commitments. One’s birthright is to be left alone, to sit quietly, and to drown the cacophony of the shouting world in calm thought. These days, it’s difficult to find this dose of calm and sanity.
Benefits of slowing down:
Rushing results in unwarranted, undesired, and thoughtless aggression. Our roadways during rush hour are one example of this. The rush, however, can be unneeded if we take our time and evaluate our objectives critically. Our ability to communicate with others will improve as we become more composed. People would choose to interact with us instead. Gaining complete control of ourselves requires slowing down.
Yoga tells us that the secret to a healthy lifestyle is proper breathing. However, the time after the daily yoga exercises in the morning puts us through unique strains. Our breathing gets less efficient the more anxious we are. Your body will become more relaxed if you deliberately slow down your bodily movements, such as breathing, walking, speaking, and driving. When breathing is controlled, the body gets the optimum amount of oxygen, which energizes both the body and the intellect.
The slower you are, the better you will see the surrounding landscape – both existential and psychological. You will be able to read people better because you would give yourself ample time to pause, pay attention, plan, and proceed, instead of rushing into people and situations without a thought or a plan. Slowing down restores the natural balance that is present inside you. It will keep you calm, composed, and confident.
