If you have noticed that your phone dies after a short period of charging, you might have a problem with your battery.
With today’s smartphones, there is no way of replacing your battery like we did back in the 2000s. Now, you would have to take your phone in to be repaired, or worse, get a new phone.
Below is a list of mistakes you should avoid when charging your smartphone, according to Batteries Shack.
Overnight charging
Sometimes, we may forget to charge our phones in time for the next day. So, we opt to charge it overnight. This is a no-no.
Most smartphones have lithium-ion batteries which do not bode well to overheating, as overheating reduces the battery’s capacity. So, if you are charging for a long period of time, your battery is sure to overheat.
Using off-brand power banks
According to Batteries Shack, this is one of the worst things you can do to your phone. You will never get constant voltage to your battery.
Pro tip:
For Android users, turn off your phone, plug in your power bank and wait until it is done.
For iPhone users, lock your screen and leave it be.
Using different charger brands and cables
When using a brand of chargers and cables different to your phone, it changes the amperage and voltage flowing to your battery.
This can cause your battery to overheat, a loss of capacity or worse, a fire.
Here is a mistake to avoid as explained by Out of Warranty.
Keeping your phone case on while charging
Yes, phone cases protect our phones but not while charging.
Our phones emit heat when plugged in. Therefore, keeping our phone cases on traps the heat which goes back to our battery.
