“The early bird catches the worm,” a commonly used phrase meaning that a person’s chances of getting what they desire are higher when they arrive first.
However, it is not that easy to wake up early in the morning, school kids resonate with this the most. It is by far the most difficult change of lifestyle yet you would reap rewarding benefits from getting a head start on the day.
Imagine waking up later in the day, half of it disappeared due to beauty sleep and you have not done any productive work. It is indeed something to take action on.
Here are the benefits of being part of the 5 am club:
“The 5 am club isn’t just about getting up early; it’s about rising with intentionality and purpose to use those precious morning hours for something meaningful,” states the author of The 5 am Club, Robin Sharma.
Samantha Snowden, a mindfulness teacher at Headspace says, “The pressure to be a morning person is intense,” which we can all agree.
Getting up earlier can improve confidence because it can feel like an achievement and not constantly feeling like you’re in a rush, which only increases stress and negatively impacts your mental health, the Headspace teacher adds.
She also explains that moving the alarm clock up shouldn’t mean sacrificing sleep because lack of sleep over time can increase a person’s risk of developing chronic illnesses like heart disease and have detrimental effects on their mental health, such as anxiety.
