175 Million rand might be enough money for people like me to retire and live a luxurious life, but to some, it is just an amount to acquire a piece of land in Cape Town.
Situated in one of the country’s most opulent suburbs, Clifton is a dream that many Mzansi citizens like me, will never realise. This 1 124 m² piece of land advertised on the property hub Property24’s, is situated on the mountain side of the luxurious Clifton. The land boasts a jaw dropping sea view and mountain view in a neighbourhood that screams wealth.
How someone got to own a part of the mountain land is still a mystery to me, better yet, why is it priced at R175 million? Engaging further on these thoughts are questions like, how long has the owner been holding on to this valuable asset and how was it acquired?
Racing to such thoughts is not unusual considering that the country’s majority live in poverty. In 2022, the World Bank reported that South Africa was considered “the most racially unequal country in the world,” with 10% of the country’s rich owning 80% of the economy’s wealth, the US based financial institution shared.
The 1 124 m² is situated at the “top position on Clifton’s Nettleton Road,” adds the property hub.
Buying this luxury land will get you a view of Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles Mountain range and the famous Clifton Beaches.
The vacant land went on market on February 23, 2023, advertised with an option of buying approved property plans and a building cost between 65 and 75 million rands, shared the property hub.
