Cape Town has been grappling with inclement weather over the past week, leaving residents to navigate treacherous conditions.
Recent downpours have wreaked havoc across the city, flooding roads and homes, uprooting trees, and displacing hundreds.
As Capetonians brace for increasingly unpredictable and severe weather, one BMW driver experienced a close call that no one could have anticipated.
In a dramatic video captured by a neighbourhood CCTV camera on Sunday, 7 July 2024, the vehicle is seen approaching the camera when a large tree suddenly crashes down, narrowly missing the car as it continues on its path.
Watch: abc news took to their TikTok page to share the incident in a video captioned: “A large tree narrowly missed a moving vehicle as it came crashing down amid severe weather in Cape Town, South Africa.”

Concerned users took to the comment section to share their sentiments.
One user said: “God saved the BMW driver that used their indicator.”
Another one asked, “Why allow big trees with tiny roots at the center of the city?”
While another user who was astonished said, “Wow! that was close.”
Another one who refused to believe that the incident took place said, “Fake, the rope was tied to the tree and the car drove down the street and it pulled the tree down. Duh! you can see the rope.”
