Internet users were left in stitches when a little boy referred to South African cuisine Mogodu as a hedgehog.
The cuisine which consists of the combination of chopped tripe and intestines served as a stew often with hot pap or dumplings and comes from the insides of mammals like cows or sheep.
This video that was originally uploaded to the popular social media platform TikTok by a content creator known as @_izibele, gained massive popularity with over 1.2 million views.
In the video, the mother of the boy attempts to feed him a bite-sized portion of mogodu to which the boy exclaims how disgusting and prickly it appears while drawing similarities between its texture and that of hedgehog spine quills.
Hedgehogs are known to be animals with sharp spines, like the mogodu. People were surprised the boy knew what a hedgehog is as most people had no clue, while alluded that he could have gotten the idea from watching the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

TikTok users took to the comment section to laugh with one user commenting, “Do we even have hedgehogs in South Africa.”
Another user commented, “Look we calling it ‘Hedgehog Mondays’ (taking from the famous concept Mogodu Mondays) I thank you.”
Another user commented, “As for hedgehog, adding a crying emoji, it’s prickly. What?”
Another user said, “I don’t blame him for not eating it ah the smell when it’s boiled, adding an emoji which usually symbolises feelings of sadness. I love trotters yes but not hedgehogs no, ending with a laughing emoji.
