When Thandolwethu Mbombo graduated from the University of the Western Cape, she did the unthinkable by visiting her high school Life Orientation (LO) teacher to share her huge achievement.
On graduation day, most people get excited to finally reach a goal they have been aiming for, it is seldom that a person goes back to where they started to show appreciation.
In a video shared on the social media platform TikTok, the content creator is seen going to her LO teacher’s class, as she approaches the entrance, the teacher goes to the door to welcome her.
Excited to see her former learner, the teacher shows her grade eight learners the product of her work, commenting:
“This is who I taught, she just came from her graduation.” Laughing, the teacher continued, “She wasn’t like you guys.”
The learners who are very familiar with the teacher start laughing before she asks them to clap for Thandolwethu, adding:
“She used to speak good English and would write lengthy assignments supporting her statement.” The teacher added that when the TikToker was a learner, she motivated her findings, commenting: “That’s why I keep saying start the pattern now, learn to motivate your answer.”
“Your answers are very short, you guys don’t like motivating your answers.”
Turning to Thandolwethu, the proud teacher said:
“Look at you, come give me a hug,” before giving her a kiss.
Congratulating the graduate, the teacher noted how proud they get as teachers when they see the product of their work.
