In today’s economy, saving every rand for a rainy day counts, and you would think that storing your money in a piggy bank would be safe, right? Well, wrong, for one mother, at least.
TikTok user @shirleymat21 took to the app to document that her savings had “gone wrong,” all thanks to her young son and daughter. In the video shared, the mother shows a pink, open box filled with a few coins with all the Madiba notes shredded and strewn on the bedroom floor.
While showing the pieces of R10s, R20s and R50s on the floor, @shirleymat21 shares in the video that she felt a sharp pain in her heart at the sight of the crime scene before her, understandably so.
“I had to call their dad to witness,” said the TikToker, who used an audio of a crying woman in the background of her video.
The camera then pans over to the woman’s son and daughter standing outside of the bedroom, looking a tad bit guilty.
Calling her kids “rascals,” the woman explains, “By the way, it’s the sister who did all the cutting, and I know the idea was from Bhuti.”

@shirleymat21 then shared a “post-incident interview” with her kids in a car. The beans were surely spilt, well, only by the son as the daughter remained silent.
