Two women were found decomposed in a pigsty on a farm in the Sebayeng area outside Mankweng in Limpopo. This is after they were shot while gathering expired food at a farm. Makgato, Zimbabwean national Lucia Ndlovu and her husband went to Onvervaght farm to harvest rotten products dumped by a dairy merchant.
SundayWorld reports that while they were at the farm, the farm owner Zachariah Johannes Olivier aged 60, along with Andrian Rudolph de Wet 19 and William Musora, a Zimbabwean national, allegedly shot the three individuals before feeding the two women’s bodies to pigs. The man accompanying them managed to escape and is reportedly receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
However, IOL states that the family of the two women who were shot are demanding justice, Walter Mathole, Makgato’s brother, told the SABC that after his sister failed to return home, he visited the farm but received no assistance.
“I went to the farm asking if they had seen my sister but they did not provide me with any helpful information. I also asked workers at the farm but they said they were not at work when the incident happened,” he shared.
In addition, TimesLIVE further reports that the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) in Limpopo is considering taking action against the farmer involved in the alleged killings. The commission expressed concern over what it described as a troubling trend in the farming community where “human life is not respected.”
“There is nothing that justifies the killing of a human being. Even though someone has done wrong or not[..] Killing somebody and throwing that person into a pigsty is just not right. We are going to confirm everything [with what action we’ll take] after we have considered all our options,” he shared with the publication.
