When To Call Your Friendship Quits

by Boitumelo Mmakou

So, you have been friends with someone for 10 years, and despite all the drama the person brings in your life, your years together make everything seem delightful. But, you need to know when to end a friendship as having toxic friends can hinder your health. Perhaps this can serve as a guideline as to which friends you should chuck-out.

IDENTIFY THE GOOD FROM THE BAD

You can’t get rid of what is bad unless you can identify it. The best way to source out the bad friends is by making a list of the closest friends, and from this list, decide which ones you really speak to, and who make you happy.

UNFIXABLE

Every friendship goes through trying times because life isn’t always perfect. The best way a friendship can survive the ugly moments is by communicating and reaching a compromise. If your friend is not willing to meet you half way or apologise for doing wrong, then they’re not worth keeping. You need to surround yourself with people who care enough to do give you the best.

KEEP POSTPONING

You have invited your bestie to lunch several times and she has constantly postponed. This is the friend who wants to be with you when it suits her. Eventually her excuses for not meeting for lunch will get old, and you will have to come to the realisation that she isn’t worth having in your life if she can’t physically be present in it.
