We are ending the month of love by celebrating the love story of newlyweds Mlungisi Zondi (30) and Zinhle Mlambo (27) who said “I do” in November 2018.
How we met
“We met back in 2006 during break time at the church. Mlu was going to the car and we greeted each other and exchanged names. Every time we had a church district event, we would meet up during lunch and chat. We were friends from then.” says Zinhle
The couple dated for 4 years before getting married and were close friends before anything else. Mlungisi says ‘we shared the same vision in life and been so close for so long that we just got used to having each other in our lives and shared all our important milestones together.”
Getting Engaged
Zinhle recalls the day Mlungisi popped the question; “we were sitting at the Botanical Gardens for a picnic lunch in November 2017. Mlu said ‘Yaz’ kunento engihluphayo (you know there is something bothering me)?’ He then took out a piece of paper from the picnic bag, rolled it up like a ring, took my ring finger and he said “MaMlambo, I’m tired of being incomplete. Will you please complete me and be my wife?” I said YES!
Saying I do
The couple got married in a gorgeous ceremony on the 18 November 2018 at Collisheen Estate in Ballito. “We chose the wedding venue as we knew we needed one that will accommodate more than 220 people & also that we wanted a private venue with no one other than our guests on our special day. We found Collisheen Estate on Google and decided to go and check it out. As we drove up the tree lined driveway between the sugar cane fields we thought it had a lovely country feel & it was not far to travel so very convenient for everyone. Once inside Collisheen, we were sold from the word go.”
Collisheen has a chapel with a separate reception area all set in beautiful gardens. Mlungisi and Zinhle say “with the chapel & venue having open sides it was literally like getting married in the garden, it was exactly what we wanted, a venue which can accommodate our modern country/rustic wedding concept.”
The newlyweds say they are loving learning to live together, adding “the transition is still ongoing but so far so good. We had premarital counselling which assisted with preparing our minds for the transition as well.”
Although they are still in the honeymoon phase, they share their secret for a lasting relationship, saying “we communicate and we like to try out new things. So one of us will see something and suggest it thereafter we try it. We also make time for each other even if we have a busy schedule. “
