In this months #BONAWeddings we are celebrating newlyweds Nadia (24) and Julian Singh (31) who fell in love at first sight. Nadia wrote in to tell us about how they met in a club 6 years ago. “My first impression was how cute he looked and how great he smelt. He was standing at the bar and I asked him for a dance. He agreed. I knew it was love at first sight for both of us when he told me that he loved me on the first night we were together.” The Singhs love story is one like no other, here’s why they are our #BONAWeddings March winners:
Making the first move
Nadia says she made the first move by kissing him on the night they met, saying “we just couldn’t stop kissing but eventually we did.” Julian would take their relationship to the next level 9 months after they started dating by proposing to Nadia. “It was my birthday and he had given me a chain as a gift. I was very excited and I ran to show my parents when I got back I saw him kneeling which I didn’t think anything of it until he popped the question saying: ‘I know it’s only been 9 months but I love you to bits. Even if you take the world and universe and put them together it wouldn’t still wouldn’t show much I love you.’”
Tying the knot
Nadia and Julian became Mrs and Mr Singh on 1 December 2018 at the Kharwastan temple hall in Chatsworth, Durban. Nadia says the highlight of their wedding day was “seeing each other after 3 days apart, signing our registration documents and our first dance as husband and wife.” Nadia also says her gorgeous brightly coloured outfit was another highlight for her.
The couple’s first dance was to ‘Thank God I found you’ by Mariah Carey, Joe and 98 degrees which Nadia says encapsulates how the couple feels about each other.
The love birds are currently in their honeymoon phase and admit that the transition of being husband and wife has been great so far. “It’s been amazing being able to do anything, from cooking to cleaning or just spending time together.” The honeymoon phase also means a fantastic sex life which says Nadia keeps the flames of passion alive.
