Many people aspire to have beautiful and radiant skin. But, a combination of sun damage, ageing and acne scars can result in being damaged. Luckily, there are options available to repair your skin, such as chemical peels and facials. But, peels are normally accompanied by negative perceptions, especially from the black community. Major concerns for black people’s skin is acne and hyperpigmentation and chemical peels can help to manage them.
Chemical Peels vs Facials
A chemical peel is a treatment where an acid is used to deeply exfoliate the skin, removing the top layers. They reduce wrinkles, correct irregular pigmentation and improve the appearance of acne scars.

A facial involves exfoliation, steaming and extraction to improve the appearance of your skin. Facials stimulate cell rejuvenation, reduce negative effects of environmental factors, and improve severely dehydrated skin.
Types of peels to try:
1. Superficial peels are suitable for people who have mild skin imperfections and conditions. They rejuvenate and enhance the appearance of your skin without the recovery time for harsher treatments. They have a few side effects. Although your skin may flake mildly or be slightly irritated, you should be able to return your work or daily activities almost immediately after treatment. A course of eight treatment over four weeks is recommended for optimal results.

2. Medium peels provide more dramatic results. After this treatment, a superficial crust forms over the treated area and then flakes off in three to seven days.
3. Deep peels only require one treatment and have more dramatic results. But, the recovery time is long and uncomfortable.
