Award-winning rapper AKA has donated R100 000 to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) SRC Humanitarian Fund following ongoing protests at the institution. The beginning of the 2019 academic year saw students go on a hunger strike in protest over issues including accommodation and registration fees resulting from a bundle made by the student’s financial aid scheme, NSFAS.
AKA took to social media to share that he would make a substantial donation in support of the students. He also visited the university where he joined the protests.
Here’s a look at what went down.
