Our Food Editor Ntwenhle Gcabashe shows you how to make three detoxing salad dressings to ease you back into healthy eating mode.
1. Lime Dressing
Prep time: 10 minutes
Serves: 2–3
- ½ cup (125ml) lime juice
- ½ cup (125ml) red wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon lime zest
- 4 tablespoons (60ml) olive oil
- Handful fresh coriander, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) maple syrup
- Whisk all ingredients in a bowl.
Tip: Best served with grilled chicken and vegetable salad.

2. Turmeric and Chilli Dressing
Prep time: 10 minutes
Serves: 2–3
- 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
- 1 red chilli, finely chopped
- 6 tablespoons (90ml) white wine vinegar
- 6 tablespoons (90ml) olive oil
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) honey
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- Salt and pepper
Mix turmeric, chilli, vinegar, oil, honey, mustard and garlic in a bowl.
- Season with salt and pepper.
Tip: Best served with lentil salad.
3. Avocado and Garlic
Prep time: 10 minutes
Serves: 2–3
- 1 medium avocado, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 4 tablespoons (60ml) orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 6 tablespoons (90ml) white wine vinegar
- 6 tablespoons (90ml) olive oil
- Handful fresh coriander, chopped
- Salt and pepper, for seasoning
- Mix ingredients in a blender.
- Season with salt and pepper.
Tip: Best served with Caesar salad.
