Jennifer Hudson has been tapped to play Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin in an upcoming biopic titled Respect. According to Variety, production on the film began in 2018 after Jennifer was handpicked for the role by the award-winning singer herself. The movie will look at Aretha’s journey from her childhood singing in her father’s church’s choir to her achieving international star status. This comes after the star was part of the star-studded Aretha Franklin tribute.
