He’s become an epic success as one of SA’s greatest entertainers, after rising to international stardom when he landed the gig as presenter of The Daily Show. The King of Comedy Trevor Noah, has now revealed that his book, Born A Crime, has been added to the curriculum at a school in Newark in America.
Speaking to Los Angeles Times, Trevor said it has been quite a jump for him to go from being a child who would always get into trouble to now have his book being taught in a school as part of its curriculum.

“I don’t think the book is a product of myself, but rather me telling a story comprised of many stories. Part of it is South Africa’s story, part of it is my family’s story, my mother’s story, the lessons she taught me. Then, obviously, my interpretation of the world I was raised in,” he said.
“It’s most beautiful to me because of why they’re using the book. I do think the lessons we learned in apartheid South Africa are stories that apply to the world. You do see vestiges of that in America today.”
Trevor said racism in South Africa was blatant, and the book allows for an open conversation on the topic.

“I think it’s a nice place to learn how to have conversations on a topic that has become very fraught with political landmines everywhere you go,” he said.
In the mean-time we can’t wait for the movie adaptation of his book to show on the big screen. Our excitement reached an all-time high when he announced that Black Panther star, Lupita Nyong’o would play the role of his mother.
Halala! To Trevor on his continued career success!
