Rhulani Mokwena, the former head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, officially joins a new football club, beginning an exciting chapter in his coaching career.
According to the news publication IOL, the 37-year-old with an impressive CV formerly joins Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca as their new head coach.
The news publication further states that Rhulani joins the football club at a difficult time as they had to watch local rivals Raja Casablanca, coached by Josef Zinnbauer, cruise to the title without dropping a game last season, as Nasreddine Nabi’s AS FAR Rabat finished second. They could only manage 6th place in the Botola Pro 1.
FARpost, a news and media platform said that despite interests from other North African clubs such as AS FAR, USM ALGAR, and CR Belouizdad, he still chose to join Wydad. The Soweto-born tactician found it impossible to resist the “the allure of the Botola Pro giants, coupled with the ambition of the club’s new leadership”, the news and media hub added.
