Our November cover star is the phenomenally talented Zahara.
The singer just released her third album and it’s been a roaring success. It actually went gold in one day, proving that all the negative publicity she’s received has done nothing to deter her fans.
Check out how our red-hot cover was created in the video below plus Zahara talks about her new album and has a message for her fans.
Melanie Fiona just released the video for her new song, I tried off the upcoming album Awake. In it she focuses on social ills like domestic abuse, rape and police brutality. The singer had this to say about the video to TheYBF:
“It is important for me to channel the ideas and concepts I am passionate about into my music and my art… As an artist with a social platform, I feel it is my responsibility to do so. The video for ‘I Tried’ is a tribute to the fight in which we all witness and experience both internally and externally in the world daily. The conversation of important issues should not end when we turn the TV off. I hope this visual sparks emotion, thought, dialogue, reflection, and ultimately, positive change,”
Check it out below. Your thoughts?
Kelly Khumalo and Arthur enact a gorgeous wedding for their Nguye Lo video which was just released. Kelly looks absolutely radiant! This is surely going to be a favourite on the dance floors as we enter wedding season. What do you think of the video?

Watch this behind-the-scenes video from our Lerato Kganyago cover shoot and then read what our features editor Phila Tyekana had to say about the interview.
Why Lerato?
It seems she’s having the year of her life! It’s as if something was holding her back somehow in the past and now she’s decided to let go of it and start living. It’s all evident in the work she’s doing; joining Metro FM, Muvhango, pursuing being a House DJ, her gig on Ebony Life TV, Moments SA and looking content with herself. We had to celebrate that as the magazine.
What was her reaction to being on Bona magazine?
Her first cover ever was with us in 2013 and so we had to pick things up from our last conversation and she was only glad to share her life now with us and our readers.
It’s her second cover with you, how different is she now?
Despite her flourishing career she’s grown mentally too and come into her own and her confidence is evident.
How was it like interviewing her?
A lot of people misunderstand Lerato as feisty but she’s the sweetest and very honest with her truth. She’s hilarious too with a witty sense of humour. Don’t get me wrong, she won’t ever back down from a fight nor is she afraid to quickly put you in your place if you step on her toes.
How was she at the photo shoot?
Professional, fun and easy.
What was the inspiration behind the November cover shoot?
Lerato is known for her glamzon style of dress, so we continued with the glam effect for the cover theme.
What can readers expect from the story?
Honesty from the cover star about how appreciative she is about coming this far in the entertainment industry and the challenges she’s faced with both herself and fans in her journey of success. She also speaks for the first time about her breakup with soccer star, Katlego Mashego.
Actress Masasa Mbangeni covers our July issue. Peep this behind the scenes video below to see how our beautiful issue came to life.
Watch this behind-the-scenes video from our May cover shoot with Metro FM’s Unathi Msengana and see how our May issue came to life.
Watch this behind-the-scenes video from our April cover shoot and read what our features editor, Phila Tyekana, has to say about Simphiwe.
Why Simphiwe?
They say everything has its time and right now it’s Muvhango’s time to shine. After many years the soapie has finally made us all stand up and take notice of its creativity and gripping storylines. Simphiwe plays Thuli, who is one of the lead actresses in the soapie with a storyline that has South Africans intrigued. As a young actress – and one we’ve never seen on a cover of a magazine – we felt it was time our readers got to know a bit more of her beyond her on-screen character.
What was her reaction to being on BONA magazine?
She got on board without hesitation and was happy to be the face of the BONA for the April issue.
How was it like interviewing her?
In the cover story, she mentions that choosing not to open up about her life makes her seem “uncool and not an IT girl”. So she was very guarded about what she said about her private life.
How was she at the photo shoot?
She’s very comfortable with the camera; she struck me as someone who is very happy with herself and body.
What was the inspiration behind the April cover?
Simphiwe is gorgeous – we wanted to celebrate her beauty.
What can readers expect from the story?
A fun and quirky revelation of her life story and uncovering the person behind the popular Muvhango character, Thuli.
