The Shoprite Group invites all “high-performing” students to apply for their prestigious 2024/25 academic year bursaries.

Our bursaries are aligned to critical skills in the business and our commitment to uplifting the lives of young people by providing them with an entryway into highly skilled roles,” states Leigh Adams, head of talent and learning solutions at The Shoprite Group.
The Shoprite Group, being the largest private-sector employer in South Africa, has a workforce exceeding 160,000 employees. Annually, it directs around R15 million towards sponsoring over 200 bursary recipients, according to BusinessTech, a business-focused publication.
The business-focused publication further states, the group is specifically aiming at students who are enrolled for the following degree studies:
- Accounting
- Biological Sciences
- Information Technology
- Logistics and Supply Chain
- Retail Business Management
- Food Sciences
- Agricultural Sciences
According to the above-mentioned publication, the bursary includes payment for tuition fees and on-campus housing, along with a monthly stipend for groceries and access to the Group’s Employee Wellness Program.
Students who complete their bursary program have the opportunity to significantly enhance their career paths within the retail industry. ”Most beneficiaries are offered employment upon graduation and receive on-the-job training to ensure a seamless transition into the business where they can explore many career options,” The Group said.
