Christmas is known to be the time of the year where you spend money mostly on frivolous things, even going beyond the budget because of what is popularly known as “The season of giving.”
What you didn’t know is that there are ways in which you can spend less and still have the best experience enjoying your Christmas holiday.
You’re probably thinking it’s difficult to cut corners and save during this time because there are Christmas presents, decorations, food, drinks and other essentials. As stated by Martin Lewis, a money saving expert “If you’re yelling over your wrapping paper “what about the joy of giving?,” remember gift-giving creates an obligation on recipients to give back, whether they can afford it or not. For some, the gift of “not obliging you to buy for me” is actually better”.
Ways where you can save:
Hosting A Dinner
If you are hosting a dinner, get your guests to each bring a dish. That way you won’t spend a lot of money just for one dinner or you can easily shop, store brand names instead of buying expensive brands.
Gifts
Be on the lookout for Christmas discounts and make sure you create your own wrapping paper, some even use old newspapers and a ribbon.
Decorations
Find youtube videos for DIY lessons to decorate your house.
Drinks
Drinks are expensive at any time of the year, so if you want to cut costs learn how to make a punch that people will enjoy, garnish it, pour it in a nice glass and you will see how it passes off as a cocktail.
Budget
Write everything you need down so when you go out to do your shopping, you do it once because going back and forth is costly and you end up buying things you don’t need.
