Thully Ndlazi, owner of 2licious, Beyond Beauty chats to us about how she moved from renting space to having her own beauty boutique.
Please tell us about yourself.
I am a lover of beauty, life, fashion and people. I love travelling and working with people from different backgrounds. I grew up in Durban and recently moved to Joburg. I now own a beauty boutique called 2licious, Beyond Beauty.
Tell us more about your business.
I found my passion for beauty in 2008 when I did a nail course in Durban. I decided to go into the beauty industry and that’s how 2licious started.
We specialise in:
- Gel and acrylic overlays, pedicure and manicures, plus paraffin dip. We have both male and female clients, who are young and old.
- We have a make-up section within the business. We do music videos, magazine and TV shoots and weddings.
- We also do massages, waxing and treading and eyelash extensions.
The best part of my business is that we offer clients a drink while they wait.
What advice would you to give someone who wants to enter the beauty industry as an entrepreneur?
There are plenty opportunities out there, you just have to find out what you are good at. Study and make sure you do your research before going into business – studying is very crucial.
Who do you look up to? Who or what inspires you?
A lot of people inspire me. I look up to my guardian (mom), and women like Connie Ferguson. She inspires me because she is a strong business and family woman, and has a great reputation. I would definitely love to work with her.
What can people expect from you and your brand?
Expect great service – that is something we pride ourselves with. We believe in communication, so we love hearing from our customers and future clients. As mentioned earlier, we offer drinks while you wait, as well as free and safe parking with security. Our clients can also expect to see us at the Durban July.
