Transitioning back to work after a much-deserved time of relaxation can be daunting, as you have to drag yourself out of holiday mode to get yourself into work mode.
Fortunately, there are a few tips to get you feeling more productive in your work environment.
Here are five ways to get back into your work routine:
1. Set goals for yourself
Upon your return to work, consider reviewing any goals you have made during your holiday to assess your progress and the likelihood of achieving your targets, says Indeed (a top job-seeking company). Alternatively, if you have not set any goals, try to identify achievable goals and targets you can reach. “By having goals to work toward, you can improve your motivation to complete your tasks and responsibilities.”
2. Exercise
“It might seem unrelated to returning to work, but exercising when you get back from a holiday can be an excellent method for boosting your endorphins,” shares Indeed. “There are many methods of exercising that may suit you, such as going to the gym, swimming, walking or running.”
3. Organise yourself
LinkedIn – the world’s largest professional network – states that getting organised is a great way to smoothly transition back into work mode. This can be done by making sure your workstation is tidy or checking your emails and taking note of any changes in the office since you were last there.
4. Practise a healthy mindset
If returning to work has you feeling unmotivated, practising healthy thoughts can get you out of that funk. Indeed suggests brainstorming and writing down all the positives about returning to work.
5. Take it slow
LinkedIn shares that it is normal to feel overwhelmed and stressed when you return to work. “To ease the transition, it is important to take it slow and not try to do too much too soon. Start with small tasks, and gradually build up to bigger ones.”
