Parenting can come with various demands, from expensive medical bills to the costs of supporting your child. Waiting in line for school supplies should be the least of your worries.
Earlier this year consumers were introduced to SM Packages, a business that delivers stationary kits to parents in the comfort of their homes.
Owner of SM Packages, Sinoxolo Marimani speaks on venturing into the school supplies packaging business and delivering them for the convenience of parents. Despite having just started her business, she hopes to achieve major success.
Sino says, “I started this company as a way to earn another stream of income, as in modern times you can not rely on your 9-5 salary, given the cost of living.”
The package supply business is not only curated for stationary, but also for new moms in need of self-care, bridal parties, and special occasions.
Sino, once a student at the University of Western Cape studying for a LLB degree decided to take an academic break due to her wanting to explore her creative and entrepreneurial side.
She believes that taking a break helped her to gain new perspectives and insights that she would not have gained if she had continued with her studies. Today, she is proud of her decision, as it has helped her to become a more well-rounded individual.
Speaking about what her biggest challenge was, she says, “In the beginning, my biggest challenge was educating myself on what my purchasing seasons were, as stationary is usually brought in January it made sense for me to start advertising then as the demand for my products would be higher.
One should continually promote their business, as demonstrated by Sino’s recent success, landing a large quotation from an NGO.
Sino says that her motto in life is “It’s going to happen because I am going to make it happen.” She wholeheartedly believes that she holds the keys to her success, meaning that the actions and decisions she makes are what work towards achieving her goals.
